About The Yellow Ribbon Project

Incepted in 2004, as a bastion for hope, forgiveness, redemption and second chances, the Yellow Ribbon Project (YRP) continues to be the national public engagement campaign aimed at changing society's mindset in giving ex-offenders a second chance in life. Started by the Community Action for the Rehabilitation of Ex-offenders (CARE) Network, the YRP is anchored on 3As - Raising Awareness, generating Acceptance, and inspiring community Action in support of the rehabilitation and reintegration of ex-offenders into the community.

Through these efforts the Yellow Ribbon Project hope to garner the support of the community, to build a more inclusive society, a nation that embraces beyond second chances.

CARE Network

The Yellow Ribbon Project is managed by the Community Action for the Rehabilitation of Ex-offenders (CARE) Network. It is an alliance of various Social Service Agencies (SSAs) and Government Organisations dedicated to community engagement, coordination of aftercare efforts and enhancing service delivery for ex-offenders and their families.

Background of the Yellow Ribbon Prison Run

The Yellow Ribbon Prison Run started in 2009 as part of the YRP’s drive to reach out to the wider community. Through the years, the strong support from both the public and private sectors garnered by the YRP’s iconic Prison Run has raised awareness and acceptance towards the Yellow Ribbon Project and support for second chances through their participation in the run. These efforts have also galvanised the community to take action by donating to the funding of reintegration programmes for ex-offenders and their families.

Till today, the Yellow Ribbon Prison Run remains the only run where participants are granted unique access to run through the iconic old Changi Prison Wall and catch a rare glimpse of the Changi Prison Complex.

Yellow Ribbon Prison Run 2023

The annual flagship event of the Yellow Ribbon Project, the Yellow Ribbon Prison Run (YRPR) returns in 2023 to a fully physical format with a nostalgic run route beginning at Changi Village and ends with participants running through the Old Changi Prison Wall. Themed “Run Beyond 2nd Chances”, the Yellow Ribbon Prison Run aims to be a symbol of hope and an avenue to rally community support towards offering ex-offenders and their families beyond a second chance throughout their reintegration journey.

Join us on the bandwagon in giving second chances by participating in this year's Yellow Ribbon Prison Run and be entitled to our exclusive run shirt and eco-friendly drawstring bag.
