Please read carefully through the Rules and Regulations below before you register for any race in Yellow Ribbon Prison Run 2017.
You must accept the conditions in order to register for the events.


Rules and Regulations of the Yellow Ribbon Prison Run 2017

1              GENERAL

1.1          YELLOW RIBBON PRISON RUN 2017 is organized by the CARE Network and is referred to collectively as “The Organiser” in accordance with the YELLOW RIBBON PRISON RUN 2017’s Rules & Regulations


1.2          The Organisers reserve the right to use any photograph, motion picture, recording, or any other record of this event and its participants for any legitimate purpose, including commercial advertising and future publicity for the event.


1.3          The Organisers reserve the right to amend the rules and regulations without prior notification.


1.4          The Organisers reserve the right to cancel or postpone the event without any prior notification, in which case, the fees are non-refundable.


1.5          By registering for the event, participants are deemed to have agreed to the following:

  1. Participant(s) are deemed to have given their consent to their information being collected and used for the purpose of organising the YRPR 2017 and for such use as permitted under the Personal Data Protection Act 2012.
  2. Receiving information from the Organisers about related promotions and event updates via SMS and Email.


2              REGISTRATION

2.1          Participants must be 15 years and above on race day to participate in the competitive categories.


2.2          Participants must be 3 years and above on race day to participate in the Fun Walk category.


2.3          Participants below the age of 15 must seek parental or guardian consent and fill in the relevant indemnity form when registering online. Failing which, The Organisers reserve the right to refuse entry to the participant.


2.4          Registration will not be accepted after the closing date.


2.5          Upon successful registration, you are not allowed to change the category that you have registered for.


2.6          All run category registrations are non-transferrable and refunds will be handled on a case-by-case basis.


2.7          To ensure that your race details are correct, please check and update your personal particulars before registration closes. Please note that only changes to personal particulars will be accepted.


2.8          The Organisers reserve the right to close registration before the official closing date should participation reach its capacity.


2.9          The Organisers will not be responsible for any dispute arising from incomplete or incorrect information submitted by participants.


2.10        Completion of the online entry form evidences the participant’s agreement to abide by the rules and regulations of YRPR 2017.


2.11        The Organisers reserve the right to limit and refuse entries.


2.12        A confirmation slip will be sent to the participant’s email address after the registration is successfully completed.


2.13        Each participant can only participate in a one competitive category.


2.14        The registration will only be completed when full payment is made.



3.1          All registered participants are to collect their race packs at the race expo. More information on the race expo will be provided at a later date.


3.2          For collection, please bring along the confirmation slip or NRIC/Passport for verification purposes. The Organisers reserve the right to refuse collection by participants who do not present the required documents.


3.3          If participants are unable to collect their race packs in person, they may authorise a representative to collect on their behalf. The following documents must be presented when the representative is collecting the race pack:

–              Race pack collection authorisation form or

–              Participant’s confirmation slip

–              Photocopy of participant’s NRIC

–              Photocopy of representative’s NRIC


4              RACE

4.1          There are three (3) divisions – 5km Fun Walk, 5km Competitive Team Run and 10km Competitive Run. In addition, there are two (2) categories for the 10km run. 10km – Competitive (Men & Women)


4.2          While every reasonable precaution will be taken by The Organisers to ensure participants’ safety, participants are advised to exercise due care and The Organisers shall not be liable for any loss and/or damage, whether personal or otherwise, and howsoever arising.


4.3          The Organisers reserve the right to remove any unattended bags at the event premises for security reasons and will not be responsible for any losses and/or damages to the belongings.


4.4          Only registered participants for the respective categories are allowed access to the Start Point. Runners must wear their assigned participant bibs on the front of their running attire near their chest area at all times during the race. Participants not wearing their assigned participant bibs will be asked to leave the course by event officials and may result in disqualification.


4.5          A participant’s failure to observe the Rules and Regulations may result in disqualification.


4.6          A grace period of 15 minutes after the commencement of the run will be given for latecomers. Any participant who reports later than this grace period will not be allowed to participate in the run. For the competitive categories, latecomers should be aware that their race timing commences when the race begins.


4.7          Due to safety reasons, pets, bicycles, in-line skates, prams, push carts, shoes with built-in or attached rollers and any other wheel-run objects are not allowed on the course other than official race and medical vehicles.


4.8          A participant who protests against another competitor or notifies of violation by a contestant must do so in writing to The Organisers within 30 minutes of the release of the official results or after the prize presentation, whichever is earlier. A deposit of S$50 or equivalent must accompany the appropriate protest and will be refunded if the protest is successful. All decisions made by the Appeal Board shall be final and irrefutable.


4.9          The Organisers reserve the right to stop any participant from continuing the race for safety reasons.


4.10        All participants are required to report at the Start Point at least 30 minutes prior to flag-off time.


4.11        A participant must retire from the race immediately if requested by any member of the official medical staff.


4.12        All participants who successfully complete the run will be awarded a Finisher’s Medal, with the participant’s bib as proof of participation.


4.13        All participants who successfully complete the run will be awarded an Online Certificate of Achievement, to be downloaded by participants.


4.14        Participants who fail to complete or were disqualified will not be awarded with an online Certificate of Achievement.


4.15        All participants must only wear their assigned participant bib. Transfer of participant bib is strictly not allowed.


5              TIMING DEVICE

5.1          All participants must attach the assigned participant bib on the front of their running attire and the shoe tag to their right shoes.


5.2          The shoe tag is for one-time use only. Participants do not need to return it to The Organisers after the race.


5.3          The adopted timing device is the sole means of race timing measurement.


5.4          The Organisers will not be responsible for any inaccuracies in participant’s race timings.


5.5          An identification antenna is embedded in the timing device for competitive participants. The participant’s particulars and timings will be recorded electronically. Participants who fail to bring their participant bib on the event day cannot participate as competitive runners. These participants will not receive an online Certificate of Achievement despite successful completion of the run.


5.6          The Organisers will not refund participants who forget to bring their timing device on the race day.


5.7          Participants of the competitive categories are to run through the gantries set up at various points along the route. Failure to comply will result in disqualification.




6.1          Should any participant feel unwell in the course of the race, he/she should stop and seek immediate medical attention at the designated medical posts.


6.2          Participants should prepare themselves adequately over several weeks before the event by gradually increase the duration and intensity of their training.


6.3          Participants should ensure that they are well-rested and well-hydrated prior to the run.


6.4          Participants are advised not to attend the event should they have fever, cough, breathing difficulties or severe muscle ache.


6.5          Participants who have doubts about their suitability to participate in this event (e.g. those on medication or those who have had recent health conditions) are advised to consult their medical practitioner prior to participation in the event.


6.6          To minimise injuries, always do at least 15 minutes of warm-up/stretching before the start and at the end of training and the run


6.7          Participants are advised against the consumption of alcohol or stimulants or any kind of drugs within 24 hours of the race.
