1. What is the purpose of Yellow Ribbon Prison Run 2017 (YRPR17)?
Yellow Ribbon Prison Run 2017 will be a fun and memorable run, to encourage the community to play a part to the Yellow Ribbon message and participate in the run to show their support for the ex-offenders. The theme, The Road to Acceptance, is about giving ex-offenders a second chance to start afresh. It conveys the message that what matters most is not about the fall, but how to pick himself/ herself up after the fall.
2. When will the event be held and what time will it end?
The run will be held on Sunday, 17 September 2017 and the end time will be announced soon.
3. Where will the event be held?
SAF Field, Farnborough Road (near Changi Village)
4. Is there a shuttle bus service provided to the event venue?
Optional shuttle services (one-way) from various pick-up locations to the start point will be provided at a nominal cost of $5, payable during the registration. Refer to Getting to & fro for more details.
5. What is the start time of the Carnival at the End Point?
To be announced soon.
6. Who is the beneficiary for the Run?
The beneficiary for the Run is the Yellow Ribbon Fund (YRF), which is in line with helping inmates and ex-offenders.
7. Can I run without my number bib?
No. Participants without their number bibs will not be allowed to be on the Run route.
8. Can I run without wearing the designated running jersey?
Yes. However, participants are to be reminded to wear the number bibs which consist of essential information such as their names, emergency contact numbers and the color codes for the category which they are competing in.

10. How do I check my timing?
Timings will be posted on the YRPR17 website following the completion of the race.
11. What is so interesting about the Run?
The route will bring the participants past various historical sites and also into the vicinity of the Prison Complex. It will give the runners a visual impact of how Prisons has transformed into a new generation Prison Complex, designed to cater to the security and rehabilitation needs of the prisoners.
12. How many categories are there for the Run and what are they?
There are 3 categories for the Run. They are:

  • 10km Competitive Run
  • 5km Fun Walk
  • 5km Run for Second Chances
13. How much is the Registration Fee?
The structure for the Registration Fee is as follows:

14. What is the mode of registration available?
Online registration is the only mode of registration. Payment is by Mastercard or Visa.
15. When is the Closing Date for the registration?
Registration closes when the maximum number of slots has been filled.
16. Will I receive a refund on my registration fees if I withdraw from the Run?
No. Once the registration has been duly processed, there will be no refund to the participant should he / she decide not to take part.
17. Is the registration transferable?
The entry is non-transferable. The organizer has the right to disqualify any Participant found to be using another Participant’s number bib.
18. Can I change my race category after I have registered?
Participants are not allowed to change their race categories after registration.
19. Are there any prizes for the top finishers and what is the Judging Criteria?
Cash prizes will be awarded to the top 10 finishers of the 10km Competitive Runs for both men and women. The cash prize distribution can be found here.
20. Will you be mailing the run certificate overseas?
Certificates will be mailed to local addresses only.
21. If I miss the flag-off time of my race category, can I join another race category instead? (E.g. I signed up for the 10km, but I was late, so can I take part in the 5km Fun Walk instead?)
No. There will be two different routes for the following categories – 10km Competitive Run and 5km Fun Walk. Participants will be disqualified and no timing will be provided if they do not run in the category that they have registered for. Participants who do not start within 30 minutes from their respective flag-off times will be disqualified.
22. What if I am injured during the race or otherwise unable to finish the race?
First aid stations will be located along the routes. Medical assistance will be provided to injured participants.
However, these participants will not be issued their Finisher’s T-shirt (if applicable), Finisher’s Medal and other goodies.
23. Will there be road closures?
Yes, there will be road closures. Affected roads/lanes will be announced at a later date.
24. Are dogs permitted?
No pets will be allowed in the race.
25. How do I know if my registration is successful?
Participants will receive a confirmation slip via email upon successful registration.
26. Why have I not received my confirmation slip despite registering and making payment?
There can be several reasons for this:

The registration was not successful and therefore the confirmation slip was not rendered.

  1. Error in your email provided at the point of registration so the confirmation slip was not sent to the correct email.
  2. The email has been blocked by the mail server and/or is treated as spam mail.

27. Will I be able to change my T-shirt size?
Exchange of T-shirt size is subjected to availability.
